Details

ADFORS has been a leader in Laid Scrim manufacturing for more than 50 years, providing fabrics that increase tensile strength, dimensional stability, and provides tear resistance in many products you encounter every day. Laid Scrim is a continuous filament fabric forming technology that allows for a wide latitude to adjust product performance through the choice of yarn type and strength, fabric pattern, coating chemistry, and availability of substrate lamination options. It is an extremely customizable and cost-effective way to help make your products stronger.

Features & Benefits:

  • Dimensional stability
  • Tensile strength
  • Alkali resistance
  • Tear resistance

Process:

The Laid Scrim manufacturing process creates an open mesh pattern by “laying” cross-direction yarns between two sets of machine direction yarns, coating the structure with a binder, and then drying it to fix the structure in place. Some styles can include a substrate like a polyester, polypropylene, glassmat nonwoven, or tissue paper. Grid patterns can include square or tri-directional and are typically constructed of fiberglass, polyester, carbon, or aramid yarns. All of our scrims are custom-designed and manufactured, in roll sizes optimized for our customers’ production lines.
